Hey,

the kbr interface of the simulator is based on the paper “Towards a Common API for Structured Peer-to-Peer Overlays” by Frank Dabek and Ben Y. Zhao and Peter Druschel and John Kubiatowicz and Ion Stoica from 2003. In this paper you find descriptions for all methods and it should help you to understand it.
